On 1 September 2025, the Sentinel-2 satellite looked down on Western Brook Pond, a glacially-carved fjord in Newfoundland's Gros Morne National Park. Cut off from the sea by post-glacial rebound thousands of years ago, this landlocked freshwater lake still traces its fjord's original winding shape through the Long Range Mountains' ancient tableland.
