On 27 December 2024, the Sentinel-2 satellite looked down on South Georgia's north coast, where a snow-capped mountain spine drops straight into the South Atlantic. Turquoise meltwater fringes the dark rock and ice, with small outlying islands scattered in deep navy water beyond the coastline.
