The satellite crossed Mato Grosso, the heart of Brazil's interior farmland, and caught the agricultural frontier itself — enormous fields in green and rust-red carved block by block out of dark tropical forest. Pivot circles cluster at the centre of straight-edged blocks while strips of uncut canopy trace every watercourse, the geometry of a landscape being remade in real time.
