On 22 July 2026, the Sentinel-2 satellite looked down on the Tengger Desert Solar Park in Ningxia, China — one of the world's largest solar installations, nicknamed the "Great Wall of Solar." Most of the panel field reads as sandy beige rather than the usual dark blue-black, windblown desert dust settling faster than the cleaning rotation can keep up; a smaller freshly-serviced section still shows the panels' true dark tone. The desert, quite literally, reclaiming its solar farm.
