On 7 June 2026, the Sentinel-2 satellite looked down on a second pit in the Timmins gold mining district, about 12 km northeast of its sibling. A vast circular excavation is ringed by tailings ponds in orange, yellow, teal and green — mineral chemistry rendered as pure colour against the northern Ontario forest.
