On 16 October 2025, Sentinel-2 looked down on the Finger Lakes of central New York, a set of long, narrow lakes carved by glaciers during the last ice age. Seneca Lake's surface sits 136 metres above sea level, yet its deepest point is 188 metres, so its floor lies about 52 metres below sea level. Cayuga Lake's floor is about 16 metres below as well. Lake Ontario fills the top of the frame. This map edition outlines the lakes in gold over the satellite image, with a chart of each lake's floor against sea level.
